GHOSTED Veterans' Stories: Submission Guidelines
🛑 Important Safety Notice
This platform is for peer support and shared experience only. GHOSTED staff and moderators are NOT mental health professionals.
If you are in crisis, please seek immediate professional help:
1. Purpose and Focus
This space is dedicated to U.S. Veterans sharing their experiences of trauma, mental health struggles, and, most importantly, their path toward healing and resilience. We aim to combat isolation by showing that no one is truly left behind.
2. Submission Format
-
Title: Choose a title that reflects the core emotion or theme of your story.
-
Body: Share your story honestly. While you may discuss traumatic events, we strongly encourage you to spend time focusing on:
-
The emotional impact (the "ghosted" feeling).
-
The coping mechanisms you use (healthy or unhealthy).
-
The resources, relationships, or moments that have aided your recovery.
-
Anonymity: You may submit your story using your real name, an alias, or request to be published Anonymously. We respect your privacy completely.
3. Content Standards (Please Read Carefully)
To protect all readers from unnecessary triggers, submissions will be moderated based on the following:
DO Share DO NOT Share Experiences of fear, anxiety, depression, or isolation. Explicit, overly graphic details of physical violence, gore, or sexual assault. Struggles with substance use and the journey to recovery. Specific instructions or methods related to self-harm or suicide. Feelings of moral injury or difficulty transitioning to civilian life. Hate speech, threats, harassment, or personal attacks against anyone. Honest feelings about the challenges of seeking help. Propagandizing specific political or religious views.
4. Comment Policy (Zero Tolerance)
All comments are Moderated before they go live. Our goal is validation, not debate.
-
Empathy Only: Comments must be supportive, empathetic, and validating ("Thank you for sharing," "I understand that feeling," "You are not alone").
-
No Professional Advice: DO NOT attempt to diagnose the author or offer specific medical, financial, or legal advice.
-
No Judgment: Do not criticize the author’s choices, coping mechanisms, or level of service.
